Fernando Redondo is a retired Argentine footballer who was born on June 6, 1969, in Adrogué, Argentina. He played as a defensive midfielder and was known for his exceptional passing range, vision, and composure on the ball.
Redondo began his professional career at Argentinos Juniors before moving to Tenerife in Spain in 1992. He then joined Real Madrid in 1994, where he enjoyed great success, winning two La Liga titles, one UEFA Champions League title, and one Intercontinental Cup.
Redondo was also capped 29 times for the Argentina national team, representing his country in the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the Copa America. However, he was controversially left out of the squad for the 1998 World Cup, much to the disappointment of many Argentine fans.
After suffering a knee injury in 2000, Redondo struggled to regain his form and ultimately retired from professional football in 2004. Despite his relatively short playing career, he is still remembered as one of the most talented midfielders of his generation.
